Development of the Essentials - 500 Package - From Delusion Drive
Hi there.
Taking a break from sound design work I fired up my RPG maker and Game maker engines to add and utilize some of my new audio files.
This revealed two potential problems to me, which i Imagine other designers would likewise encounter, and found ways to overcome them.
They are as follows;
A. Game Maker has you import all files by browsing your computer, while setting a new title , location, and format limits you to uploading one file at a time, An effective form of torture as the standard audio pack has 120+ files. A quick forum search revealed that, by opening the database, I can select an entire folder of files and click-drag them into the database. This overcame a game breaking feature i did not know others experienced.
B. RPG Maker allows adding external files, but due to looping and effects layering, it generally accepts only .OGG files. I was able to find a freeware MP3 to OGG folder converter. Effectively converting a whole folder of MP3s while i wait, while keeping the file names and placing the originals in a new labeled folder.
With these two tips in mind I decided to overcome the 3rd and most serious problem in rpg makers studio. The fact that the stock sound effects bundled with the release are few and not terribly varied. As such I designed this "Essential Sounds" package to be free of charge, easily downloaded in whichever format suits your studio software, and full of basic sounds of all kinds and types that almost every game shares.
The final version Included sounds like; People walking on multiple terrain types, horses trotting or running, money/coins changing hands, doors opening, gates closing, fists flying, bodies dropping, flies, bees, and cars whizzing past, or people building, leather working, metal forging, and one of any number of staple rpg tasks/talents.

Excerpt of real conversation with Audio Engineer;
"Oh Alex, you are so smart and talented, I wish everybody I knew was as smart and handsome as you!"
"Thank you beautiful person also named Alex, only another equally smart person would realize how true such a statement is..."
"Of Course, such a thing should be obvious too all, I've even decided to chose a user name just like yours as a tribute to your greatness"
"Really, you shouldn't have. As Iam so loyal and humble I'am left speechless by the length you have gone to state the facts of my abilities so plainly"
"Speechless... You? Well, than I will take advantage of your good nature and make passionate love to you for what i' am certain will be a very long time"
